Spooky Lakes for Nepal: Help Us Restore a Trail Bridge
In August 2026, a catastrophic glacier and rock collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border caused devastating flooding that damaged or destroyed trail bridges connecting rural communities across Nepal.
Current assessments have identified 68 affected trail bridges across five districts, impacting approximately 20,000 households. For many of these communities, these bridges provide critical access to schools, medical care, farmland, markets, government services, and humanitarian aid.
This fundraiser is particularly close to my heart. My dad, Thomas Rutherford, and my uncle, Jim Rutherford, joined the Peace Corps together in the 1970s to help survey, design, and build rural suspension bridges in Nepal. Years later, Jim returned to Nepal and directed the Bridge Building at the Local Level program at Helvetas.
I grew up with their stories and photographs of Nepal, and that history even found its way into Spooky Rivers: the dedication page features my painting of the Syange suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River.
Our goal: $50,000
This Spooky Lake Month, we're raising $50,000 to help restore a trail bridge in Nepal. Helvetas is working with the Government of Nepal to identify bridges in remote communities where restoring a crossing can reconnect people with essential services and neighboring communities.
This special Nepal/Spooky Lakes sticker is pay what you can, and 100% of the amount you pay for the sticker will be contributed to the Spooky Lakes for Nepal trail bridge fundraiser.
Want to make a larger donation or don't need a sticker? Please donate directly through our official Donorbox fundraiser instead. Donations made there go directly to the nonprofit, and eligible donors can receive the appropriate donation acknowledgment/tax receipt. Purchases made through my shop will not receive a charitable donation receipt from me.
There are a lot of things that need to be rebuilt after a disaster of this scale. We can't rebuild all of them, but maybe, together, we can help restore one bridge.
Each die-cut sticker is a thick, durable vinyl. They are resistant to scratching, water and sunlight.
I'll be shipping these myself (actually my mom packs most of the orders, so thanks mom!) over the course of October while I'm also creating a Spooky Lake video every day so I appreciate your patience!
Made in the USA.
If you only order stickers:
I ship stickers within the United States and internationally using standard postal mail. International sticker-only orders are sent the old-fashioned way in a classic snail-mail envelope (my mom handwrites the label and adds a stamp 💌). These orders do not include tracking. U.S. sticker orders generally arrive within about 10 business days, while international orders can take several weeks. If your order seems to be taking unusually long, please let me know!
**I'm restocking this sticker and will be able to ship out your order next week 10/6! Thank you for your patience!
